Commander’s Update – Fall 2019

The Gamma Alpha Chapter has been off to a strong start for the fall semester. All of our brothers have reconvened back at Georgia Tech now, whether they had been studying abroad, working internships, or taking classes. To start off the semester, we participated in fall formal recruitment. This season of recruitment resulted in the addition of twenty-one new candidates. We are very happy with the young men who will be joining our chapter, and we are very excited to see what they will do here in their time at the Gamma Alpha Chapter. This was a very successful season of recruitment as the average number of new pledges for each chapter was about fourteen, which is an average that we were well over. We would also like to thank all of the alumni who sent us contacts for potential new candidates. Your help was greatly appreciated, and if you know of anyone else who may be interested in joining the Gamma Alpha Chapter, do not hesitate to send their contact information to [email protected].

We are looking forward to keeping up our academic success into this semester. Our grade report from the spring semester showed that our chapter had an average GPA of 3.41, which was above the campus average of a 3.35. Fifty-seven brothers made the Dean’s List (above a 3.0 GPA for the term), while twelve brothers were awarded Faculty Honors (4.0 GPA for the term). In addition, we received an award from Sigma Nu Nationals for Operational Excellence as a result of our Pursuit of Excellence submission. In addition to this award, we received an excellent score in nearly every single category of the Pursuit of Excellence. Since Rock Chapter is awarded every other year, we will be striving to get that award in the summer of 2020. This will require lots of hard work and attention to detail from our officers throughout the next year. However, I am confident that this award will be very attainable based upon the quality and dedication shown by the brothers in this chapter.

Finally, this may be the last update that I send as Eminent Commander. Our elections take place during mid-October, so we will have a whole new group of officers that will take charge of the chapter very soon. The chapter will undoubtedly be in good hands, and I am excited to see what our younger brothers have in store for the future. It has been a pleasure serving as Eminent Commander, and if any of you would ever like to reach out to me, feel free to contact me at my personal email [email protected] or text/call at (678) 662-1988. I am excited to see you all throughout the semester, and I thank you all again for your continued support of the Gamma Alpha Chapter.
