Colleen and I are expecting our first child (girl) ANY DAY NOW; I recently became self-employed as a scientific consultant, doing business as GeoCyte. Included are a small collection of photos of GT sports in North Carolina since 2014. Pictured are myself, (now) wife Colleen Kellenberger, Tom Gay (Sigma Nu year after me), his (now) wife Natalie Gay (ne Seller) Georgia Tech football destroys NC State in Raleigh, November 2014.

My favorite tradition has to be football gameday, it’s part of the reason I went to GA Tech, I grew up a fan. I loved going through the different “year” motions, starting out as a pledge essentially making Gameday happen at the Sigma Nu house, meeting old alumni and beating them at Killer Volleyball (pool volleyball game) after games, and then when I was an older student moving over to a tailgate on West Campus attended by older brothers, their families, and alumni I really liked. I don’t live in ATL anymore, but (in non-COVID times) I try to go to a game a year here in the Raleigh-Durham area, do some tailgating, invite brothers to visit, etc.  My favorite place to go in Atlanta was Piedmont Park and Park Tavern. I prefer the Great Outdoors, it can be a peaceful escape from all the traffic, and Park Tavern was always a good place to grab a beer and talk to pretty girls.

Atlanta was a lot different back in my day, a lot less places to go. We had very few restaurants near campus, but I always loved Jalisco Mexican Restaurant on Peachtree St heading up to midtown. I think it’s still there. I just remember going there with several of the older guys when I was a pledge. A couple of us used to work at the Atlanta Steeplechase. It was up somewhere in North Ga. I don’t know that it is even around anymore, also always loved the Greek Week outing. The most valuable part of Sigma Nu has to be the lifelong friendships. I am still in regular contact with 3 or 4 of my best brothers.

I have just become a grandfather for the first time!

I always loved going to Moe’s & Joe’s Tavern. It was a big Sigma Nu hangout with cold beer and great cheeseburgers. I always liked getting back to the House to start getting ready for Fall rush. It was great seeing everyone after the Summer break and getting back on campus. I have many long term close friendships that developed from my time at Georgia Tech.
