Steps Toward Positivity – Setting the Example

Sigma Nu has been doing their part to combat some of the negative stereotypes that have appeared in many recent headlines, regarding Greek organizations. Some of the topics of discussion, tend to involve racism, rape culture and irresponsibility. We are taking active steps to ensure that our chapter house is a safe and welcoming environment for any and all who visit.

Recently, house art with the old Georgia state flag was changed in order to remove association with the Confederate battle flag. We have replaced it with a painting of an American flag, painted by recent spring graduate, Craig Cornick.

Workshops created by our national headquarters to identify, prevent, and eliminate sexual violence have been attended by all active brothers. A new chapter vote has been passed to increase the number of sober monitors at every event, requiring participation from every brother, at least once a semester. Our chapter believes its members can make changes such as these to ensure safety for all visitors.
